Teaching objectives:
1. To get familiar with the differences between American English and British English.
2. To know as many colloquialisms as possible.
Teaching procedures:
American English VS British English
Step 1 Lead-in:
1. Ask students to focus on the spelling and vocabulary differences between American English and British English

Step 2 Learning and Practice
1. To go through 4 tables.
2. To finish the practice on page 26 and practice reading.

2. Definition of colloquialism
Step2 Learning and Practice
1. To finish Part A on page 27
2. To finish Part B on page 27
Step3 Extension
To introduce more colloquialisms:
lend me an ear ; eat my hat; a no-brainer; a wet blanket; pull my leg; green fingers rain cats and dogs; green hand; make a mountain out of a molehill; as quiet as a mouse
Step4 Consolidation
To fill in blanks by using the Colloquialisms students have just learned.
