Procedures
Step 1 Lead in
Show the students pictures of the Yangtze River. Then ask them questions.
1. How much do you know about the Yangtze River ?
2. What has happened to the Yangtze River?
Step 2 Fast reading
Pick out the things mentioned in the article, and then find the topic sentences of each paragraph. At last, find the correct structure of this passage.
1. Pick out the things mentioned in the article :
problems, projects, causes, organizations, animals which have died out, public service advertisement, improvement, nature reserves for birds

The environmental problems of the Yangtze River have raised concern.

1. Rapid agricultural and industrial development plus huge population growth has meant that not only is the amount of water taken from the river rising, but the waste being put back into the river has also been increasing.
倒装语序
1.表示否定或半否定意义的副词、连词如 never, neither, nor, nowhere, hardly, not, seldom, little, at no time, not until, hardly...when,no sooner...than (一...就...) ,not only... but (also)…, 等词位于句首时需要倒装。
注意: 当not only… but (also)修饰主语放句首时,不倒装。谓语动词与离它最近的主语保持一致。
2. 由so / neither / nor置于句首,表示 “主语也(不)。。。。”时,要倒装。
*形式:
so be
neither + 助动词 +主语
nor 情态动词
3 .以only修饰的副词、介词短语或状语从句放句首时,要倒装。
注意: 当only修饰主语放句首时,不倒装。
4.在so/such…that(结果状语从句)结构中,so/such 放在句首时,须倒装。
